Morahani Trek is a perfect introduction to the Great Himalayan National Park’s raw beauty and peaceful wilderness. Beginning from the quaint village of Gushaini in Tirthan Valley, this moderate-level trek winds through dense oak and deodar forests, alpine pastures, and tranquil campsites, eventually reaching the scenic Morahani Thatch.

Trek description From the starting point, one can see the local agricultural fields, apple orchards, local deities, pasture lands and forest.

This trail is ideal for those seeking a short but immersive Himalayan trekking experience. As you ascend, the changing landscape reveals panoramic views of snow-covered peaks and deep river valleys. The forested sections are rich in biodiversity and offer glimpses of native birds and wildlife, making it a paradise for nature lovers and photographers.

Morahani Thatch, the final destination, is a vast grassy meadow surrounded by towering ridgelines. It’s a peaceful place to rest, enjoy a packed meal, and take in the pristine Himalayan air. With no settlements along the route, this trek provides a true sense of solitude and connection with nature.

This trek typically takes 4 to 5 days to complete and does not require advanced mountaineering skills, though a basic level of fitness is recommended. Permits from the GHNP authority are mandatory before entry.
