The Sainj Valley – Raktisar Trek offers a breathtaking journey through one of the lesser-explored regions of the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP). This scenic and moderately challenging trek leads to Raktisar, a high-altitude meadow believed to be the origin of the Sainj River and steeped in local legends.

Trek name Sainj valley – Raktisar trek
Trek duration 7 days
Trek difficultly Moderate to strenuous
Trek description A trek to the source of the Parvati River
Total distance covered 92 kms
Starting from Neuli village in Sainj Valley, the trail meanders through dense oak and deodar forests, vibrant alpine meadows, and serene traditional villages. As you ascend, the landscape transforms dramatically—lush greenery gives way to rocky slopes and sweeping Himalayan vistas. Campsites like Shakti and Parkachi Thach provide excellent spots to rest and take in the beauty of GHNP’s remote wilderness.
