The Tirthan Valley – Gushaini to Rakhundi Trek is a stunning adventure that offers panoramic views, rich biodiversity, and a rewarding escape into the pristine wilderness of the Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP). Starting from the charming village of Gushaini, located on the banks of the Tirthan River, this moderately difficult trek leads you through lush forests, alpine meadows, and high-altitude ridgelines.

  • Walk through eco-zone of GHNP along the bank of Tirthan Nallah.   Gentle gradient at the beginning of trek, halt at Rolla

  • Rolla to Shilt Hut (3100 m)
  • 7 Km
Moderate trek, witness natural meadows and Western Trogopan.  Camp at Shilt or use rock shelter at Choodwar.
03
  • Shilt to Rakhundi (3622 m)
  • 7 Km
View point of the National Park area. One can see about 60% of the park area. Camp at Rakhundi.

  • Rakhundi to Rolla Back
  • 13 Km
Halt  at Rolla
05
  • Rolla to Goshani
  • 9 Kms
  Trek ends

The Tirthan Valley – Gushaini to Rakhundi Trek is ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and those looking for a short but immersive Himalayan trekking experience. It typically takes 2–3 days and requires a permit from the GHNP authorities. While not extremely technical, hiring a guide is recommended for those unfamiliar with the terrain.
