Description | It has a wing span of 55-60 mm; it is commonly found in Great Himalayan National Park. It prefers open, drier grassy hillsides. Its flight is lively, close to the ground. Often settles on rocks and on roads, it is fond of flowers and flies between 1830 and 2700m from April to October. The Upper forewings has prominent black eyespot at apex .The under hind wings has six to seven eyespots , each having a white pupil .The male upper forewing has a narrow dark brown brand between vein 4 and costa. The larval food plants are grasses. |
